ET Reo

Description:This year we have been doing something called ET Reo so far we have been learning lunchbox foods like (Āporo/apple) the line on top of the a is a macron, and with the macron you say the letter longer like Aaaporo.


Big Idea:
We had to learn some sentences and they were in maori do you like Āporo/ Apple then we would say in maori no. Or yes.
Criteria:
To make a video of us saying the sentences to each other.
Feedback/Feedforward: I think Katie did good at pronouncing the words but I think you could of done better at keeping her voice needs to be a little more talking like then shouting. By Bridget

Evaluation: I think I did well with my video and that it was clean but I need to practise my words because I had to do a lot of videos. But apart from that I think I did well.

Writing

Description: My goal in writing has been to write conjunctions I am getting better at conjunctions by adding on some good sentence start like, So,ing and nor. I aim to complete this goal by the end of term 3. Here is my plans and writing.



Big idea:










Feedback/Feedforward: Good work Katie I think you did a great job on your story but I think next time you can add more of an interduction and explain more about the characters. But other than that I loved your story. - Hannah P:)

Evaluation: I think I did well with my story but I could improve a bit with my punctuation. But apart from that I think I did well. :)

New NZ flag

Description: Every country in the worlds flag has a connection to its past, history and culture. I had to Post this picture on my blog and then connect it to me the world or another text.

This is my picture:
I picked this one because it reminded me of when I saw the silver fern's one's.
The colours reminded me of my mum because one of her favourite colours is red and blue makes me feel safe.
And the stars show me a beautiful stary night.

Strategy Maths

Description:This term we have been doing strategy maths, like subtraction and plus. We have this thing called a maths strategy passport, it helps us with some strategy's we could use later. Our task was to have a sheet of paper with prises with rebel sport items and we four questions and because I'm a stage five I have to do at least one good answer.

This is my work.

Big Idea:
I split my number up in to 100's 10's and 1's then I plus'ed the all together.
For example.
122+234=
100+200=300
+ 350
20+30=50
+355
2+3=5

Feedback/Feedforward: You have made a really detailed poster. I love your thinking that you have done and how you have shown your strategies. I think you could go further and do 2 strategies for each one even though you are in stage 5. I think you are a great learner. Great Job Katie. Rosalind:)

Self Evaluation: I think my maths work is good but next time I want and think I should do more than one strategy.

Inquiry presentation

Description: In poutama we went to all three teachers (Elly Ebony and Troy) After we went to all three teachers we chose one of them. I chose Ebony, because it was about animals and biological and behavioural adaptations. Now a  biological adaptation, is apart of the animal for example the stripes on a tiger is a part of the tiger. Now a behavioural adaptation is when it learns do do something like hunting for food.

Purpose: To think like a scientist.

Criteria:
  • Think like a scientist.
  • Talk like a scientist.
  • Act like a scientist.

 Feedback/Feedforward: Well Done Katie I really think you understand how a scientist speaks and thinks, next time you could work on not saying um in your presenting well done anyway. Grace :)
Self Evaluation: I think I did well with my post. But next time I want to have a bit more of an experiment for my presentation.

Reading

Description:
For reading my goal is comprehension. And we have been learning how to connect. An example is down below of how to connect self to a text/book!

The worry website is an awesome book. I am connecting me to the main character holly.
She only lives with her dad, and gets annoyed a lot, and its the same with me but I live with my mum.

Feedback/feedforward: Great job Katie I agree that you still need to work on text to text and you are really good at doing text to world and text to self. Well Done! You are nearly there. Grace :)

Evaluation: I have been going to work shops and learning how to connect like text to text, text to self and text to world. I think Im good at connecting myself to the text, but I need to get better at my text to text. But a way to get better at my text to text is by getting to books that I know and read  a chapter of both books then connect the things that are the same about them!:)
